Our Premier Event
Our Thanksgiving Day Race/Walk, a 5-mile road race and 2.6-mile walk through scenic Southport and Westport, is now Connecticut's second largest race event in the state. Attendance has grown year after year reaching well over 5,500+, which includes some of Connecticut's leading runners.
Spectators and families of entrants line the course and attend the post-race festivities. The race and walk has been an annual community tradition since 1978. The Pequot Thanksgiving Race provides families with the ability to share in the holiday spirit with exercise and excitement – setting the stage for a great day!

Thanksgiving Race FAQs
What kind of Covid/safety measures are offered for your Thanksgiving Day Race?
- The race & walk is limited to a total of 4000 runners.
- Pick-up on Monday & Tuesday and Wednesday (10:00 AM - 2:00 PM) will be inside. Wednesday evening and Thursday morning will be outside under tents.
- All entrants must have been vaccinated (2 doses for Pfizer and Moderna, 1 dose for J & J) by November 14, 2021; masks must be worn when inside the Wakeman building and under the tents outside.
How do I check to see if I'm registered for the Thanksgiving Day Race/Walk?
The button just below is updated every weekday morning by 10:00 (eastern time)
What time does the race and walk start?
8:15 am, but you need to get there earlier. The later you arrive, the harder it is to find a parking spot.
Where can I park?
Parking is available at the Southport train station parking lots, the Pequot Library, and various retail lots on the Post Road.
Can I sign up someone other than myself?
Yes, but only immediate family members.
Are strollers, baby joggers or dogs permitted?
This year we cannot permit strollers or dogs on both the run and walk.
Can I pick up someone else's race number, shirt, etc.?
Yes, but be certain that those for whom you are picking up are aware of it.
Can I pick up my bib, shirt, etc. before race day?
IMPORTANT: Yes. We strongly encourage you to pick up these materials before race day. Also, we do offer daytime pick-up and in-person registration prior to the Thursday event: Monday, 10:00 noon - 2:00 pm; Tuesday, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm & 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm; Wednesday, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm & 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Race Day times: 6:30am - 7:30 am
Will my name appear in bold on my bib?
Yes, if you register before October 18. Bibs must not be folded so the timing tag on the back of the bib remains intact and must be worn on entrants' front of most outer garment and must be clearly visible when crossing the start and finish lines.
If I become injured or sick and can't run/walk, can I get a refund?
No, there are no refunds once you have entered unless the event is cancelled in which case you will be refunded your entry fee. The processing fee cannot be refunded.

We thank the town of Fairfield and specifically the Fairfield Police Department for assisting us in this endeavor. Fairfield Police will be providing extra officers, both in uniform and civilian clothes in and around the venue. As well, the police will provide EOD dogs before and during the race. These dogs are trained to detect "suspicious" articles.

The 2022 Thanksgiving Day Race/Walk is scheduled for Thursday, November 24th! Currently, registration is closed. Please check back here in late August or early September.

How Do I Become a Sponsor?
Our sponsors play a very important role of making our signature event a success. We try to develop an air of exclusivity for them so they feel special and receive the exposure they seek. To achieve that, we separate out specific sponsorship information on this website that can only be accessed by them. This section of the site is password protected. If you would like to become a sponsor, click on the Become a Sponsor button below to request a User ID & Password.
Once you receive your User ID & Password, return to this page, click again on the Become a Sponsor button above and then, once it appears, scroll down to the blue Exclusive for Sponsors button. You will be asked to enter your ID and Password. Once there, you will see all the information for Sponsorship.

The submission deadline is October 31, 2021.
